Are the Microsoft 365 with Copilot bundles cheaper?

Microsoft sells Copilot two ways in the UK: as a £16.10 per person per month add-on to a Microsoft 365 plan you already have, or bundled into the plan itself - Business Standard with Copilot at £18.10, Business Premium with Copilot at £24.60, both per person per month paid yearly, ex-VAT. The bundle prices are below plan-plus-add-on list, so for a business starting fresh they're usually the cheaper route. For a business mid-contract, it depends on the renewal date.

In practice

The arithmetic: Business Standard (£9.40) plus the Copilot add-on (£16.10) is £25.50. The bundle is £18.10. That's a real saving per person if you'd otherwise buy both at list. Microsoft's current offer on the add-on - £13.80 for the first year on annual subscriptions taken out by 31 December 2026 - narrows the gap to £23.20, but the bundle is still cheaper, and the offer doesn't apply to the bundles themselves.

Two cautions. First, bundles are per person like everything else, so the 'which desks earn a licence' question doesn't go away - a bundle for someone who won't use Copilot is still money. Second, the bundle is a plan change, which means a renewal event: if you're a year into an annual Business Standard subscription, switching mid-term is a conversation with your licensing partner, not a toggle.

None of this touches Cowork usage. The bundle covers the licence; the Cowork work on top is still metered in Copilot Credits.

Common questions

No. It includes the Copilot licence that unlocks Cowork; usage is billed separately, as always.

If you already have Business Standard and your renewal is close, the Standard-with-Copilot bundle is the simplest upgrade. Premium adds security tooling many businesses should have anyway - but that's a security decision, not a Copilot one.

Figures use Microsoft pay-as-you-go list pricing ($0.01 per Copilot Credit, billed in US dollars), converted at £1 = $1.27 - a deliberately cautious rate (2026 has run between $1.31 and $1.39), so real pound costs are likely to be a little lower.
