How many Copilot Credits does CV screening use?
Screening a batch of CVs is medium Cowork work - roughly 400 to 800 Copilot Credits per batch, about £3.20 to £6.30. Per batch, not per CV: one run summarises the stack against your spec and ranks what deserves a human read.
What this task adds up to
One person, one task is easy. The monthly picture is what matters - put in how often this actually happens in your business.
Usage only - licences come on top, and every person needs one. Credit ranges are directional; run the task and check /cost in Cowork for your real figure. $0.01 per credit at roughly £1 = $1.27, ex-VAT. Last verified 13 July 2026.
What drives the cost
Batch size and spec detail drive the cost. Ten CVs against three requirements is the floor; forty CVs scored against a detailed person spec with written reasoning per candidate reaches the ceiling. Either way it's the same job: turning an afternoon of skimming into a shortlist with reasons.
Who this is for varies - and that changes the frequency maths. An HR manager hiring four times a year barely registers. A hiring-heavy business or a recruitment desk running a batch a week is at £13 to £25 a month per person doing it. Both get the same caveat, stated plainly: candidate data is personal data, and screening decisions carry legal obligations. Cowork can rank and summarise; a person stays accountable for who gets rejected, and your privacy notices should say AI is involved. That's employment and data-protection territory - take advice before making it routine.
Common questions
Is it charged per CV?
No - per screening task. A batch summarised and ranked in one run is one task's credits.
Can it reject candidates automatically?
It shouldn't. Automated rejection decisions carry specific legal obligations. Use it to prioritise the human read, not to replace it.
Where do the CVs need to be?
Reachable in Microsoft 365 - an inbox folder or SharePoint library works. Inside an ATS, it can't see them without connectors.
BEFORE YOU COMMIT
That's the cost. The harder question is whether it's the answer.
A new tool sitting on top of an estate that nobody fully understands usually adds cost, not clarity. So before you commit the budget, it's worth asking a simpler question: is Cowork actually your constraint, or is it something underneath it? We help established UK businesses get a clear view of what they're running - and whether the next bit of spend earns its place.
